well, I have a large hard drive from which I need to make a recovery, it has been formatted..a while ago and I want to recover it’s files….I already tried “Get Data Back” and it didnt work, is there anything better than that?
I am asking specifically about the performance of “get data back” compared to other programs, I do not need clarification on the factors that favor recovering the files

Question by WWWyzzerdd: How does one delete a partition on a Hard drive without destroying anything from the actual used portion?
Situation:

Main Hdd (C:) 182 GB
Partition from main Hdd (H:) 3.87 GB

I just want to either erase H: altogether because it looks/is ridiculous to have wasted 3 GB just sit there.

I believe it was done so that one could backup the drive with some “recovery” back-up data. Seeing as there is nothing on it now and as I said, just sitting there, is there and how if so, does one take care of this pest? That is without messing with what’s on C: or harming that data? I’ll clone the drive before doing anything, I think.

I am working with Windows XP Home and I was wondering if this can be done within Windows itself, I don’t want to risk messing with a BIOS or DOS setup – hdisk- not amateur safe.

Move everything from H to the other partition. If there are no files on it, then just use your partitioning software to delete H. I don’t know what o/s you have. I have Windows 2000. Right-click on “my computer” and open computer management. You can manage your hard drive partitions from there. It is much better though to use a partitioning software (such as Partition Magic) for this though. After you delete H, you will be able to reassign that space to another partition.
